SÖDRAKULL FRÖSAKULL
In Södrakull Frösakull, Mikael Olsson investigates ideas through two architectural works by modernist designer Bruno Mathsson. The first house, abandoned and left in decay, was accessible for Olsson to interact with. The second house was closed, inaccessible for Olsson, and therefore shot through half-drawn curtains. The design of the book takes Olsson’s thoughts and methods further, using layering of images as a way of inviting the reader to investigate the book, moving in and out of the house, exterior to interior, back and forth, inside out. The cloth cover is a detail from a photograph picturing a moldy curtain; beauty as a result of abandonment and decay.
